Spring is on the way!

Lately we've been having some really nice weather and this past Saturday was no exception. It was beautifully sunny and about 12 degrees out! Brad and I decided to take the afternoon to do some biking around Vineland. We found this cool spot down my Lake Ontario which was near the research station I worked on the past few summers. I showed Brad around the farm and we even came arcoss some flowers blooming! I can't wait until more things start turning green! Obviously we had a camera along...something either of us rarely leave home without! I love it! So here's some pictures we took.

In case you wondered what I do in teacher's college........

My colleagues!

Happy Birthday Aves!

Tonight we had a big birthday party for our dear little Avery. She offically turns 1 year old on Sunday, but since Ted and Juls are going away on holidays, they decided to celebrate early. She is such a cutie and all of her 'aunties' love her so much.

Week in Review

Okay, so my last week has been a little more excting than pancake day!! I thought I would recap. Last Wednesday, I started my first official day of observation at Vineland School. I'm starting to get more excited about teaching there and knowing that my planning efforts will actually be benefiting children now and not to just my professors and myself. The kids seem to be really good and I can't forsee any major behavioural problems. I've been collecting lots of fun ideas to do with the kids. I just hope I can actually pull them off!
Wednesday night was our QUEST group at the drop-in centre. It turned out to be a really good night of discussion. We definetly have our ups and downs each week, but as we have stepped back and looked at the bigger picture, its so cool to see how God has worked through this ministry. The boys are slowly opening up more and more and asking tough questions. We've learned as leaders that we need to be more patient than we ever thought. I guess in some ways, we expected these kids to know how to discuss in a small group, something that we have all grown up knowing how to do in sunday school or similar situations. But for some of these boys who have never really experienced that type of setting, we have to remember that they need to be taught HOW to do that first.
The weekend was filled with much excitement....well, I guess you could call it that. It was Saturday night that I realized just how much my idea of a great time has changed over the years. Brad and I hung out with our good friends Matt and Becky and played some games. However, not that games you may think! Our recent favourite game has been SUDOKU. So, we thought, why don't we have a little Sudoku tournament. So, that's what we did..so there we were sitting in silence, madly writing out numbers, drinking tea and having cookies! Now, that's what I call a good time. We ended off the evening with a lengthy game of SETTLERS. Hey, do you westerner's know of this game? or is it an eastern/local thing like Euchre?
Sunday afternoon my friend Kath had an open house are her new apartment. The place is looking great. The new paint job totally improves the place after we tore off all that tacky wallpaper!
So this week starts my last week of classes at Brock. I was going to say as a Brock student, but I will still technically be a student while I'm teaching, it just won't feel like it so much since I won't have anymore of my own classes. I'm pumped to be done the class part of this year, but I will miss all my classmates. Through the good and annoying times of this year, we've gone through it together and made a bond. We're all teachers, we'll always have that connection.
So, here's to my last week! I'm planning on making it a good one.
